You Don't Have to Deal With Vaginal Dryness: Try MonaLisa Touch®

Vaginal dryness is what it sounds like, but it can also be accompanied by itching and discomfort, incontinence, and pain during sexual intercourse. And while it can affect women at any age, it’s more frequently found in women in or beyond menopause.

If vaginal dryness is bothering you and negatively affecting your lifestyle, such as preventing you from being intimate, you should visit us at The Well for Health right away. Why live with pain if you don’t have to, especially when the MonaLisa Touch® can help?

At The Well for Health in Davidson, North Carolina, the caring team, led by founder and nurse practitioner Diane Parks, NP, and Boyd Parks, MD, help you with any issues you suffer from. We’ve found that the MonaLisa Touch laser therapy can work wonders. This treatment can revitalize your vaginal health and help with a number of vaginal issues.

Causes of vaginal dryness

After menopause, women may suffer from reduced levels of estrogen, typically the main cause of vaginal dryness. This is because estrogen is responsible for normal vaginal lubrication and for keeping the tissue’s elasticity strong and supple.

Your estrogen levels can drop for many reasons, including breastfeeding, giving birth, smoking, immune disorders, and cancer treatments.

What MonaLisa Touch is and how it works

While estrogen therapy may be recommended in some cases to treat vaginal dryness, also known as vaginal atrophy, it might not be right for all women. Some women simply do not want hormonal therapy, and others cannot have it because of previous bouts with breast cancer or other cancers.

A great alternative to estrogen therapy is laser therapy, which we proudly offer. MonaLisa Touch laser treatment is noninvasive and can deal with all of the symptoms of vaginal atrophy. Just as menopause causes estrogen levels to drop, it has the same effect on collagen. This results in the vagina becoming dry, and can also make the skin thinner and sag.

The MonaLisa Touch is the pinnacle of this laser therapy and can correct all of this, including hydrating the vaginal area and tightening vaginal tissue.

The CO2 laser’s function is to induce your body to naturally make more of its own collagen and elastin. The treatment lasts only 3-7 minutes, and while we suggest you go easy for a few days after each procedure, you can usually go right back to your regular day.

Other than some slight discomfort and possible soreness or a slight burning feeling, there are few to no side effects. Your needs will dictate the number of sessions, but it’s usually between 1-3 treatments, and we perform them 40-60 days apart.
